Figurative Sculpture

Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness maquette refers to the phrase from

The Declaration of Independence.

The Cleopatra figure was created to depict her as a powerful political figure,

deciding to end her life rather than become a slave of Rome.

The Actor was inspired by The Greek Dancer sculpture at the

Metropolitan Museum of Art. The mask she holds is based on an ancient artifact.

The coin design was inspired by the  Alexander the Great drachma

and created in an American Numismatic Society workshop.

The portrait of Edgar Allan Poe was created for a sculpture competition proposal.

The portraits of Studs Turkel and Beatrice Wood are portrait studies of public figures.

Sculpture Fragments for Future Language

Sculptures inspired by constellations, bone fragments, shells and archaeological artifacts which encapsulate a sense of mystery-the vocabulary of a lost language before  industrial functionality. I have been interested in the correlation between language, symbolism and art for many years.

Digital Portraits

These sculptures were created in ZBrush and Sculptris as experiments with creating characters which include elements of the sculpting software such as geometric structure of the mesh as it is manipulated.

Digital Abstract Sculpture

These sculptures were 3D digital fabrication experiments created on Sculpture Island, a virtual world environment in Kitely Virtual Worlds on Demand.  Learn more at Sculpture Island website.
